Is June 11, 2012 a Holiday?

The nation will be marking its 114th Independence Day celebration this coming June 12, which falls on a Tuesday. Some may be asking if this will be move to June 11 to create another three-day weekend? Will June 11, 2012, a Monday, be declared a special non-working holiday?

MalacaƱang on Sunday, June 3, is not inclined to announce June 11 (Monday) as a holiday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Independence Day will be celebrated on June 12 even if it falls on Tuesday.

Therefore, June 12 (Tuesday), will still be the day of the celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence.

President Benigno Aquino III had signed Proclamation 295, listing June 12 as holiday in the country for the Independence Day celebration.
