Rain or Shine beats down B-MEG to take Game 1 of PBA Finals

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters caught the B-MEG Llamados flatfooted, 91-80, to take a 1-0 headstart in their PBA Governors Cup’s best-of-seven championship series Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Import Jamelle Cornley scored 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Rain or Shine (ROS), while Rookie sensation Paul Lee wound up with 14 points and Gabe Norwood and Ronjay Buenafe adding in 10 apiece.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was very proud of his boys in handling the pressure and said, "I'm really proud of the way the boys handled the pressure. Once we got settled down and just able to soak up the atmosphere, they settled down to their regular game. They were okay from then on."

On the other hand, James Yap led B-Meg with 19 points along with 9 rebounds. Import Marcus Blakely was held to just 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Marc Pingris with a double-double, 12 points and 14 rebounds.
