Chris Tiu beats deadline, joins 2012 PBA Rookie Draft


Finally, the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas team captain, Chris Tiu, has declared to join the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft slated on Aug. 19 at Robinsons Midtown Manila by beating the August 3 deadline for draft aspirants to submit their application forms to the PBA.





“Hello PBA. :),” Tiu posted on his twitter account chris_tiu putting to rest several weeks of speculations by fans and basketball enthusiasts on whether he will ever turn professional.

The 27-year old 5'11 guard from Ateneo de Manila University said he looks forward to playing in the PBA and will not choose what team he will be on. “Ang gusto ko lang naman makalaro. Maski saan, as long as gagamitin ako," he said.

Tiu also attached a photo of his application for the PBA draft on his other tweet.




Meanwhile, 6'10 Junmar Fajardo, tipped to be the next important big man in Philippine basketball, could easily be the top choice by the Petron Blaze Boosters after the latter won the lottery for the rights of the first overall pick in the coming PBA rookie draft.
