Pinoy Boxer Barriga loses to Zhakypov of Kazakhstan, 17-16, in London Olympics

The 19-year-old Davao native Mark Anthony Barriga is out of the Olympics after losing to 28-year-old Birzhan Zhakypov of Kazakhstan in the Round of 16 of Men's 49kg division Saturday, 17-16.

Judges ruled it:

Round 1 = 5-4 (in favor of Zhakypov)

Round 2 = 3-6 (in favor of Barriga)

Round 3 = 9-6 (in favor of Zhakypov) - Barriga was warned for ducking, costing him two important points which is critical as he lost the fight by just a single point.

Total = 17-16 (in favor of Zhakypov)

2. SZUCS Veronika (HUN)

3. CAULFIELD Andrew (GBR)

4. BUTAR Dorian (SWE)

5. POGGI Gerardo (ARG)
