SMART-Gilas clinches thrilling win over South Korea in Jones Cup 2012

Smart-Gilas Pilipinas scored a thrilling win over South Korea, 82-79, on Tuesday and extend their winning streak to three games in the on-going 34th Jones Cup basketball competition at the Taipei PE College Gymnasium.

The National Team lost their momentum in the 3rd quarter after leading 24-17 in the first quarter and 42-40 at the half by allowing South Korean gunners to have a shooting spree in the three point region. 

South Korea made three straight threes to cap off a 17-3 run that gave them a lead, 61-49, 4:29 in the third period.

But quickly the Gilas players regrouped in the later part of the third quarter and regained the driver's seat back,76-75, with less than five minutes left in the final period.

Gary "El Granada" David anchored the decissive assault in the final stretch with his classic back to back clutch jumpers to put the PH Team ahead, 81-79, with less than a minute remaining. 

David finidhed the game with 15 points while Gabe Norwood had a brilliant performance with 10 points and swatted 2 opponent shots.
