4.4 Magnitude Earthquake jolts Surigao Sunday morning (March 17, 2013)

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake rocked Surigao at 2:09 am Sunday, March 17, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the earthquake’s epicenter was located at 12 km West of Malimono, Surigao del Norte.

The quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 1 kilometer.

Areas with reported various intensities:

Intensity IV - Surigao City / Malimono, Surigao Del Norte
Intensity III - Mainit, Surigao Del Norte

Phivolcs said no aftershocks and damage are expected from the earthquake.
