U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the moon, dead at 82

U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong, who became first to walk on the moon as commander of Apollo 11 space flight on July 20, 1969, has died at the age of 82, his family said on Saturday.

Armstrong died following complications from heart-bypass surgery he underwent earlier this month.

As commander of the Apollo 11 mission, Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon. As he stepped on the moon's surface, he radioed back the famous line, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

Below is a statement from his family:

“We are heartbroken to share the news that Neil Armstrong has passed away following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.
“Neil was our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
“Neil Armstrong was also a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job. He served his Nation proudly, as a navy fighter pilot, test pilot, and astronaut. He also found success back home in his native Ohio in business and academia, and became a community leader in Cincinnati.
“He remained an advocate of aviation and exploration throughout his life and never lost his boyhood wonder of these pursuits.
“As much as Neil cherished his privacy, he always appreciated the expressions of good will from people around the world and from all walks of life.
“While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable life and hope that it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true, to be willing to explore and push the limits, and to selflessly serve a cause greater than themselves.
“For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”

Video clip of People Screaming, Crying and Rushing out of the Colorado Theater after the Shooting

At least 12 people were killed in the rampage and 59 were wounded in Aurora, Colorado, during a jam-packed midnight premier of the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" when 24-year-old gunman, James Holmes, wearing a gas mask set off an unknown gas and allegedly unloaded four weapons' full of ammunition firing randomly at cinema goers.

Several eyewitnesses thought the attack was a special effects installation arranged by the cinema. They thought it was a clever stunt when the gunman throw a gas canister into the air above the audience, and fumes spread through auditorium after a loud bang. Then a silhouette of a person suddenly appeared at the front of the theater near the screen, pointing a gun at the crowd.

The lone gunman shot people trying to go out the exits. He made his way up the aisle silently, firing randomly at individuals as he went, saying nothing.

The suspect entered the multiplex cinema at about 12.30am, dressed in black and wearing a flack jacket and mask and carrying a rifle and hand guns.

The number of casualties makes the incident the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Later, Holmes was arrested by Police officers near a car behind the theater.

"He did not resist, he did not put up a fight," a police spokesman Frank Fania said in relation to the suspect's apprehension.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. quickly canceled a premiere planned for Paris and canceled press interviews in France.

LinkedIn HACKED, advises users to change passwords ASAP

Both LinkedIn and security experts advised Wednesday that LinkedIn users change their passwords as soon as possible.

LinkedIn continuing to investigate the situation and they are pursuing as far as next steps for the compromised accounts.

They advised users to pay attention if they do get an email from LinkedIn about resetting your password, and make sure it is from LinkedIn and not a phishing attempt, which will ask you to click on a link or cut-and-paste an enclosed URL in your Internet browser to confirm your email address.

Latest update from LinkedIn said that none of the 6.5 million user passwords that were stolen and published on a website have been used to get into member accounts.

LinkedIn director Vicente Silveria wrote on his blog (June 9, 2012):

By now, many of you have read recent headlines reporting that 6.5 million LinkedIn hashed passwords were stolen and published on an unauthorized website. We take this criminal activity very seriously so we are working closely with the FBI as they aggressively pursue the perpetrators of this crime. As you may have heard, there have been reports of other websites that have suffered similar thefts. We want to be as transparent as possible while at the same time preserving the security of our members without jeopardizing the ongoing investigation. In this post, we want to address questions we’ve been receiving and share what we’ve learned so far about the incident, how we’ve responded, and what we’re doing to protect our members going forward.
First, it’s important to know that compromised passwords were not published with corresponding email logins. At the time they were initially published, the vast majority of those passwords remained hashed, i.e. encoded, but unfortunately a subset of the passwords was decoded. Again, we are not aware of any member information being published at any time in connection with the list of stolen passwords. The only information published was the passwords themselves.

Last Wednesday, he wrote:

We want to provide you with an update on this morning’s reports of stolen passwords. We can confirm that some of the passwords that were compromised correspond to LinkedIn accounts. We are continuing to investigate this situation and here is what we are pursuing as far as next steps for the compromised accounts:
Members that have accounts associated with the compromised passwords will notice that their LinkedIn account password is no longer valid.
These members will also receive an email from LinkedIn with instructions on how to reset their passwords. There will not be any links in this email. Once you follow this step and request password assistance, then you will receive an email from LinkedIn with a password reset link.
These affected members will receive a second email from our Customer Support team providing a bit more context on this situation and why they are being asked to change their passwords.
It is worth noting that the affected members who update their passwords and members whose passwords have not been compromised benefit from the enhanced security we just recently put in place, which includes hashing and salting of our current password databases.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our members. We take the security of our members very seriously. If you haven’t read it already it is worth checking out my earlier blog post today about updating your password and other account security best practices.

Steps on how to change your password at LinkedIn:

  1. Log into LinkedIn.
  2. You should see your name in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Click on it, and you will open a drop-down menu. Choose "Settings".
  3. Choose the option to change your password.
  4. After entering your old password, you will have to enter your new (hopefully unique and hard-to-crack password) twice.

Greek Politician Punches Female Rival Live on TV during Political Debate (Video)

The spokesman from Greece's extremist far-right Golden Dawn party faces arrest and caused an uproar from netizens when he physically assaulted two left-wing representatives on live television during a morning political show.

In the shocking video, Ilias Kasidiaris, throws a glass of water at left-wing MP Rena Dourou then slaps Communist MP Liana Kanelli three times during a televised debate on the private Antenna television station with the two politicians.

They are discussing country's politics in the run-up to repeat elections on June 17.

Golden Dawn spokesman took offence at a reference by radical left Syriza party member Rena Dorou over a court case pending against him.

Kasidiaris,31, was elected to parliament in the country's recent inconclusive polls. Deputies from all seven parties that won parliament seats in the May 6 polls had been invited on the show.

A public prosecutor ordered his immediate arrest for the attacks.

World's Disrespectful Countries For Travelers (See the list)

Good to know that Philippines isn't among the most disrespectful countries on the planet for travelers and is in fact we are at the bottom of the list.

According to Forbes Magazine, the travel search site surveyed its users about where the locals never smile and people are particularly unfriendly. Some of the perceived rudeness may be attributable to cultural differences rather than anything intentional. For example, the Russian language is not as polite as English, so when Russians translate directly from Russian to English, it can sound rude to an English speaker even if they don’t mean it to.

The same principle may also apply to France: “As our closest neighbors, there has long been a familiar rivalry between the UK and France,” said Sam Baldwin, Skyscanner's travel editor. " “Even the French acknowledge that the way they are perceived is not entirely without basis."

The countries rated as having the least rude locals were Brazil, the Caribbean and the Philippines, the report added.

Here’s the complete list of 1,200 responses from Skyscanner's survey. Sixty-five percent of the respondents were from the UK and Ireland, while the rest were from North America, Australia, and other places in Europe.

Whitney Houston final autopsy report: white powder on spoon, rolled paper found in room

The legendary American pop singer and actress, Whitney Houston had cocaine throughout her system when she died, according to the final autopsy report released Wednesday.

The Grammy-winning singer Houston has died Feb. 11 after drowning face down in a tub of hot water about 12 inches deep at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles at the age of 48.

"Detectives found remnants of a white powdery substance and a spoon with white residue, a rolled up piece of white paper from off the top of a counter along the east wall of the bathroom in the hotel room where the singer died." the report said. The drug measured .58 micrograms of cocaine per milliliter was found in toxicology tests in Houston's heart and extremities.

Along with cocaine, the toxicology tests found other drugs in her body, including marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl, the report said.

However, Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said their investigation is still open and he could not comment on the findings.

Houston was regarded as one of the most celebrated female singers of all time, where she starred in hits like The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale with hits including I Will Always Love You and Saving All My Love For You. But her career was overshadowed by substance abuse and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
