Pfizer RECALLS 1 Million Birth Control PILLS

Pfizer announced on Tuesday a recall of approximately 1 million birth control pill packets in the United States because it may contain an incorrect amount of active tablets or are out of order to prevent pregnancy.

Pfizer recalled certain lots of the pill Lo/Ovral-38 as well as lots of the generic version norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets. The affected packets have expiration dates ranging between July 31, 2013, and March 31, 2014, and the lot numbers are located on Pfizer's website.

A statement on Pfizer website said:
“We have announced a voluntary recall of Lo/Ovral®-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic) birth control pills in the United States.
“We understand that this news can be very concerning and confusing for any woman who takes birth control pills to protect against unintended pregnancies.
“We share your concerns and want to provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate information.
“Recently, it came to our attention that there may be an issue with the way some of these pills were packaged…and that the inactive or placebo pill may have been placed out-of-order in some packs.
“Upon discovery of the issue, we took corrective action and notified the FDA.
“Based on our own rigorous internal assessments of this problem, we believe there are approximately 30 packs of birth control pills that may have received an inexact count or inactive tablet.
“Because of our high quality standards, should we identify even one package that does not meet our high standards, we will voluntarily recall the entire lot.
“Therefore, we have voluntarily recalled the 28 lots - which is approximately 1 million packs - to ensure that any possibly impacted product is removed from pharmacy shelves - and women who use the product are alerted.
“If you are a woman in the United States who has used Lo-Ovral or Norgestrel pills over the last several months, please consult with your physician and begin using a non-hormonal barrier method immediately.

Pepsi HIV Rumor IS NOT TRUE!

The SMS reads: "for d next few days, do not drink any product from pepsi company like pepsi, tropicana juice, slice, 7up , coca cola, etc,,as a worker from the company has added his blood contaminated with HIV. watch NDtv ...please 4ward this 2 every 1 u care about.....ok. Please note seriously."

The said rumor has spread across Asia.

According to PepsiCo marketing vice-president Hemalatha Ragavan, "This SMS started circulating in India in July and even there, no one believed it."

She explained that Pepsi products were produced according to the strictest safety standards and were safe for consumption.

"It is scientifically proven that HIV cannot be transmitted via food or drinks anyway," she said, adding that different versions of the same rumour had made the rounds before.

But wait, read the SMS again, it involves other companies' food items like Coca Cola...therefore, the story is absolutely an "anti-marketing hoax", an “absurd” and “an attempt to malign the company’s reputation.”

According to US based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
  • No incident of food being contaminated with HIV-infected blood or semen has been reported to CDC. Furthermore, CDC has received no reports of HIV infection resulting from eating food, including condiments.
  • HIV does not live long outside the body. Even if small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen was consumed, exposure to the air, heat from cooking, and stomach acid would destroy the virus. Therefore, there is no risk of contracting HIV from eating food.

Therefore, the claims in the messages are false. The contamination rumours have no basis in fact whatsoever and the warnings should not be forwarded. Sending on such warnings will help no one and will achieve nothing other than clutter inboxes and social networks with even more utterly pointless nonsense.

Another Virginia Tech SHOOTING: Lockdown after 2 KILLED (Video)

Two victims are confirmed dead at Virginia Tech and the campus is on lockdown after a gunman opened fire Thursday, December 8.

Witnesses saw the police officer being shot shortly after noon during a routine traffic stop in the Coliseum parking lot near McComas Hall and the shooter fled on foot heading toward The Cage, a parking lot near Duck Pond Drive., where a male body was found at that location with a gunshot wound.

The officer is a four-year veteran of the Virginia Tech Police Department and was assigned to patrol.

As full combat gear police swarmed the campus hunted for the killer, students and faculty were ordered to hunker down inside university buildings and dormitories via email and text message. All transportation in the area has been shut down.

The shooting comes the same day as Virginia Tech is appealing a $55,000 fine by the Education Department in connection with the university's response to a 2007 rampage that left 33 people dead.

Parents of the 2007 victims were testifying this week that they believe the university contributed to the death toll by failing to do more to alert students, teachers and the public about a gunman on campus.

Law enforcement officials tell NBC News they believe the second shooting victim was the gunman himself who shot and killed the campus police officer. They have determined there is no longer an active threat or need to secure in place. Resume normal activities

According to the reports, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of Salem is currently at both crime scenes.

CANADA introduces NEW multi-entry "SUPER VISA" for FAMILIES

The Canadian Conservative government introduced a new and generous multi-entry "super visa" for parents and grandparents who want to stay with their family in Canada as an action plan for faster family reunification.

“We understand how important it is for Canadians, including new Canadians, to live with their loved ones,” Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney declared at a news conference Friday.

According to the reports, about 6 per cent of all immigrants to Canada are parents and grandparents of existing immigrants.

"Action must be taken to cut the backlog, reduce the wait times, and ensure that the parents and grandparents program is sustainable over the long run," Kenney said.

The new 10-year, multiple-entry “Parent and Grandparent Super Visa” will likely to take just on average of eight weeks to process as long as applicants fill out the forms correctly.

The Super visa will also allow holders who qualify to remain in Canada for 24 months without a need for renewal. It will come into affect next month, December 1 and applicants are required to buy their private health-care insurance, must pass a medical exam and prove they have family in Canada who can support them during their stay.

2-Year Old Chinese Struck By 2 Trucks, Ignored by Passersby

A two-year-old Chinese girl was struck by two vehicles on Thursday, October 13 in the southern Chinese city of Fushon, Guangdong province and then ignored by 19 passersby as she lay bleeding in the street.

A toddler is struck by a white van in a narrow market street, and then crushed beneath its wheels. The girl, known as Yue Yue, died Monday after slipping into a coma following Thursday's accident.

CCTV footage shows little girl toddler was strolling aimlessly. As you can see, the driver of the white panel van suddenly accelerated toward Lulu.

The truck knocked her down and pinned her underneath the truck's carriage. The truck momentarily stopped but sped-off thus rolling over the child once again.

A passerby witnessed the collision but he did not come to the injured child's aid.

Then, more motorists passed by but no one paid any attention to her. Minutes later, a small truck drove by and it appears the driver hasn’t noticed the badly injured child, continued on its way, crushing both legs of the child.

The toddler was motionless and none of whom called for the ambulance or offered any assistance until the Good Samaritan came, a trash collector, picked up the unconscious child, moved the child to the curb and cried for help. The mother was finally informed of her child and they rushed the unconscious child to the hospital.

Will the WORLD END on FRIDAY (October 21, 2011)?

Is Harold Camping a false prophet who makes him a figure of fun or a true prophet of modern times? His followers put up costly billboards; with many spending thousands of their own money in passing his message about the Judgment Day. While he was also openly mocked by talk show hosts and religious leaders blasted him as a fake prophet.

Camping, a radio evangelist and president of a network of radio stations known as Family Radio, spent up to $100million in publicizing his prediction that the world would end in May, but are not planning to do the same again this week.

The 90-year-old Californian Doomsday preacher Harold Camping became a global laughing stock when his publicized prediction that the world would end on May 21 failed to materialize. Though, he explained that we've only experienced a spiritual rapture and not the actual physical rapture. Instead of shaking the Earth, God shook mankind with fear.

But that has not prevented him from coming up with a new End of the World date which will be on Friday, October 21, 2011 and saw that devastating earthquakes leading up to the doomsday.

Camping, who suffered a stroke in June and is now recuperating at home, continues to preach and may well have the last laugh after revealing that God had chosen to save May 21 and that October 21 is the start date of the Apocalypse - a spiritual moment when the good ones will be whisked away into heaven.

'We can be sure that the whole world, with the exception of those who are presently saved (the elect), are under the judgment of God, and will be annihilated together with the whole physical world on October 21, 2011,' the preacher posted on his Family Radio blog.
